Hot Kamloops Golf Special

Golf courses, resorts and hotels are offering up some great prices now for golfers to take advantage of.  Kamloops, which is rapidly becoming a great golf destination, has a particularly good offer with 2 nights in a 4 star hotel in downtown Kamloops and 3 rounds of golf at the area's top courses.  This is an opportunity to play "Best New" courses at Sun Rivers, Talking Rock and Tobiano and to follow up at Rivershore (a Robert Trent Jones design), The Dunes, or Sun Peaks.

All for $399!

Telus Skins Game at Bear Mountain Resort

I was able to attend the Skins Game at Bear Mountain Resort this past Monday and Tuesday, although working there so unable to see as much of the golf as I would have liked.

US OpenTrials

I think all golfers at some point in time have had problems with their clubs while traveling.  Its frustrating, but for most of us a minor inconvience as we can rent or borrow clubs at our destination - but what happens when professionals lose their clubs?  The following  is from Scoregolf's e-newsletter.

The RCGA Changes to Golf Canada

The Royal Canadian Golf Association, the governing body for rules and events for golf has changed its brand to Golf Canada.  The purpose of the change is to provide more focus on golfers.

This will be good for the game of golf in Canada, not because of the change to a new Hockey Canada - like logo, but because the change should help to grow the game of golf in Canada.  While the RCGA name will still be used in some aspects of rules and officiating, the public face of the organisation will become more relevant to the millions of golfers across the country.

Watching the Masters yesterday was, as with any Major, fascinating. Augusta is a beautiful course and being able to watch it in HD brought the colors to life. It will be great to see it at some point in the future in 3D, as some portions of the event were shown in a few test markets.

Forecaddies

by Jim Lee

On a recent golf trip, our foresome had the opportunity (actually it was required at one course) to use a forecaddy.  My prior experience with a caddy was limited to being one when I was a young teenager trying to make a bit of money at my uncles course at Lookout Point in Ontario.  As I recall, I learned that my job consisted of carrying a heavy bag, keeping my mouth shut and staying out of the way.

Golf and the Weather

By Jim Lee

As I sit here in my office on September 9, its starting to clear and the forecast for the next week is pretty positive.  It got me thinking about the impact of weather on golfers, and the golf industry.
